A Beginner's Guide to FIFA RIvals
1. What is FIFA Rivals?
FIFA Rivals is an officially licensed FIFA mobile game. Action-packed, arcade-style gameplay with casual-friendly controls that make passing, shooting, and scoring effortless. Build a dream team of superstars from legendary football clubs (FC), dive into real-time matches against rivals around the world, and unleash signature mechanics like Super Mode to turn matches on their head.

2. How Matches Play
FIFA Rivals matches are fast, 1v1 head-to-head, and 90 seconds on the clock.
Between every move, a 5-second planning window kicks in. Both you and your opponent get a moment to read the field and plan your next pass, dribble, or shot. Once the player with possession of the ball commits, the action plays out, then pauses again. Real-time matchups with the strategic depth of turn-based play.
The game plays in portrait mode, with the scoreboard counting down from 1:30. No stoppage, no halftime.
Controls
Touch-based and intuitive. No button combos, no manual sprinting. Everything is timing and reading your opponent.
On offense
Pass: Swipe from the ball carrier to a teammate.
Dribble: Tap an empty spot to move your player.
Lob or cross: Tap and swipe an off-ball teammate.
Shoot: Swipe from your player toward the goal.
Run: Tap and press a spot to run with the ball.
On defense
Pressure: Tap a defender to close down the ball carrier.
Slide tackle: Double-tap a defender for an aggressive challenge.
Anticipate: Drag a defender manually to cut off a pass.
Super ModE
Your Super Mode meter charges as the match goes on. Once full, tap it to give your players a temporary stat boost. Use it on offense to break through a defense or fire off a powerful shot on goal, or defensively to shut down a scoring chance.
How you win
Score 2 goals before your opponent, or
Hold a 1-0 lead when the 1:30 timer runs out
A tie at full game goes to a penalty shootout
3. Building Your Squad
Your squad is built around player cards, each representing a real player.
Rarities & stats
Every card belongs to one of five rarity tiers: Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythical. Higher rarities have stronger base stats and more room to upgrade.
Each player has six core stats: Speed, Dribble, Defend, Shoot, Pass, Explosiveness.
Contracts
Every card has a contract that limits how many matches it can play before renewal. Save your top players for tougher matches, and renew with cash when you need to. You can also discard cards you don't want for extra contracts.
Getting new players
You can obtain players by opening packs from events, the in-game shop, the season pass, and your Daily Reward. As you climb the leagues, each win awards a better rarity pack.
Leveling up
Duplicate cards aren't wasted. They feed into the player you already own to level them up. Higher-rarity cards have a higher upgrade ceiling. Once a card is max level, you can trade it on the marketplace.
Starting 11 & formations
FIFA Rivals uses a full 11-on-11 squad. There are 12 formations total, unlocked as your account levels up.
Gear that boosts your squad
Emblems apply a team-wide buff (e.g., +1 Speed to your whole squad).
Boots boost individual player stats (e.g., +1 Explosiveness).
Balls can give utility boosts like bonus account XP or reduced pack opening times.
Kits are purely cosmetic.
You'll earn gear through packs, events, the season pass, and challenges.
4. Currencies Explained
FIFA Rivals has three main currencies, plus a season-specific one. Most of what you'll need is earned through play.
Cash
Used to level up players and buy contract points. Cash is the base earned currency. You'll pick it up steadily through matches, daily rewards, challenges, and events.
Gems
Used to buy Cash, unlock packs, and grab items in the shop. Gems sit a tier above Cash. You can earn them through gameplay and rewards, or buy them with real money.
Credits
Used to trade for players, gear, and fragments in the in-game Player Marketplace. Credits are purchased with real money, so save them for items you really want.
Challenge Currency (seasonal)
Earned by completing Daily, Weekly, and Main tasks each season. Spend it in the Reward Tree to unlock seasonal rewards. Any unspent Challenge Currency converts 10:1 into Cash at season end, capped at 2,000 Cash.
5. Game Modes & Events
FIFA Rivals keeps the mode list focused. Here's what you can jump into.
Play Match
The main way to play. Real-time 1v1 PVP matches against live opponents. Wins climb you up the leagues, earn daily rewards, and progress your season. If you've only got a few minutes, this is where you go.
Play with Friends
Settle a debate with a friend by challenging them to a head-to-head friendly. Bragging rights only, with no leaderboard impact.
FIFA World Cup™ Legacy Mode
Step back into the brackets of past FIFA World Cup™ tournaments. Choose a year (2010, 2014, 2018, or 2022), pick a nation, and battle through the group stage all the way to the final with that tournament's iconic squad. Lift the trophy and you'll earn Legacy Players, historic legends you can bring into your main PVP squad, plus exclusive FIFA World Cup™ Packs.
Events
Limited-time activities with their own rules, objectives, and rewards. Two main types:
Dreamshot is a long-running event where you unlock rewards by hitting targets.
Flash Events are short, rotating leaderboard competitions with their own scoring conditions. Check the events tab to see what's live.
6. Seasons & Progression
FIFA Rivals rolls out a new season roughly every month. Each one has its own theme, exclusive players, fresh challenges, and a new set of rewards.
Season Pass
The Season Pass is your main rewards engine. Earn Season XP by playing matches, building win streaks, equipping XP-boosting gear, and engaging with the Season Shop. As your XP grows, you unlock rewards across multiple tracks.
There are three tiers:
Free Pass: earned just by playing.
Premium Pass: bigger rewards and faster progression.
Mythical Pass: the highest tier, with exclusive players and huge resources.
You can upgrade at any point in the season and instantly unlock everything you've already earned on the higher track.
Climbing the leagues
Win matches and you'll climb through 17 league divisions, from Bronze III all the way to Grand Master. The higher you climb, the better the rarity pack you earn for each win. Better packs take longer to open, but the trade is worth it.
Squads
Tap Play with Friends to find and join a squad. Search by name or browse suggestions - they are tagged as Casual, Hardcore, or Social so you can pick the vibe you want. Squads compete on a dedicated leaderboard based on event points, with rewards that scale with your squad's ranking when the leaderboard resets.
Daily activities
Three smaller loops keep you progressing every day:
Daily, Weekly, and Main tasks earn you Challenge Currency.
Spend Challenge Currency in the Reward Tree to choose your own path through seasonal rewards.
Daily Win Streak rewards you with exclusive bonuses for stacking three victories in a row.
At season end, the slate resets, any unspent Challenge Currency converts 10:1 into Cash (capped at 2,000 Cash), and a fresh season begins.
7. Player Marketplaces & Digital Collectibles
FIFA Rivals has two marketplaces, both referred to as Pulse Market: one inside the game and one outside.
What's tradable
Not everything in your inventory can be traded. Tradable items include players fully leveled to 5 stars, Mythical fragments, and some emblems, kits, balls, and boots. If you're planning to flip a card, level it up first.
Pulse Market (in-game)
A player-driven hub where you can trade, collect, and shape your dream team using Credits.
Buy and sell players to shape your team and respond to the evolving meta.
Pick up Gear like emblems, boots, balls, and kits to boost progression and customization.
Collect Fragments to build toward Mythical-tier players.
List your own players and items to turn gameplay rewards into real value.
Search, filter, and compare listings to find the best deals.
Pulse Market (out-of-game)
The full Pulse Market lives at market.pulse.xyz, home to digital items from every Mythical game, including FIFA Rivals.
A few things worth knowing:
Pay your way. Card, crypto, or both.
Auto-sync. Items you buy on the web show up in your in-game inventory automatically once your accounts are linked (via FIFA Rivals settings).
No hold periods or withdrawal limits. Cash out anytime.
New to Pulse Market on the web? Sign in with your email, deposit with card or crypto, and start browsing.
8. Tips for New Players
A few habits that pay off fast.
1. Chase the Daily Win Streak
Stringing together three wins in a row triggers a bonus reward stack.
2. Join a Squad
Join a squad early and start climbing the leaderboard with your squadmates to earn extra rewards!
3. Save your best players for tough matches
Every player card has a contract. Lean on lower-tier players for matchups you'll probably win to conserve your top cards.
4. Pressure with your goalkeeper in 1v1 situations
When a striker is bearing down on goal, tap your goalkeeper to charge out. It can turn a near-certain goal into a turnover.
5. Time your Super Mode carefully
The biggest swing moments are when your meter is full and your opponent's isn't. Push through on offense, or shut down a scoring chance.
6. Equip stat-boosting gear before every match
Emblems, boots, and balls all stack. Even one extra Speed or Explosiveness can decide a tight game.
7. Don't burn Gems early
Save Gems for high-rarity packs and big events. You'll earn Cash plenty fast through gameplay.
